at the FIDEM - CONGRESS 2000 in Weimar :

'Nobody needs a medal. Nobody needs art or music or myth. Nobody needs the stones on a beech or birdsong . It is the useless things that make life worthwhile.

The act of commissioning a medal is a challenging one. It implies an intention to mark significance and make meaning through human talent; it is an act of faith in the future and of community with those that will enjoy the outcome. Why not try it for yourself ?'
