Ambivalence /BA FINAL WORK 2005/
Medal objects

The series of medal objects have a common name, Ambivalence, but each group varies subtly.

The usual circular form of the medal serves its symbolic implication -the circle has no beginning or end and expresses the constant battle between matter and spirit. The materials used - the traditional metal and the non-traditional glass, included in the same round form, counter each other and try to distort it. In the deformation of the circular form each one of the materials follows its symbolic logic. The heavy earthy metal sometimes flows like lava and encompasses the glass completely and at other places it hardly touches the glass in the points of contact.

In some of the works the glass lies on top of the metal but in most cases it gravitates toward a sphere, wing or other aerial form.

It could be said that the name Ambivalence refers not only to the creative idea but also to the materials used and the form.
